The SAVE Act (which would have required photo IDs to vote, sent fill voter registration records to the federal government, as well as caused major hurdles to voting for anyone who’s legally changed their name) is finally dead after sitting around in the Senate for months. It’s surely not the end of the administration’s voter suppression efforts but it’s still nice to see this one fail. Quote from law professor Derek Mulle, “It does strike me that the debate has shifted from whether to nationalize elections to how, at least for many Republicans.”
